Lens Taab - Review

I have been using the Lens Taab on my Mamiya 7 for a few months now, so I decided to write up a quick review with some of my thoughts about it.

When I got my Mamiya 7 I instantly knew I was going to want a Lens Taab. I have been following them on Instagram for a while before I got my Mamiya 7 so I already have heard about their product. I shot a few rolls with my Mamiya 7 without the Lens Taab and definitely noticed it was slightly slow to pull manual focus with just the ring.

Fast forward a few weeks and I was about to be heading to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with my Mamiya 7 in tow. I knew I was going to want to have a Lens Taab, so I reached out to them and they sent me one just in time for the trip.

First the quality of these things are great. Tough rubber that smoothly slides onto the lens. Now for the 80mm f/4 lens I have on my Mamiya 7 I needed the Hefty size. There are directions on their site on how to measure your lens to get the right fit.

Using the Lens Taab did take some slight getting used to and it was difficult to figure out where was the best placement for the grip. The way I did it was to put the focus right in the middle around 2meters and then placed the Taab on where it felt comfortable with my thumb. This ended up working out perfectly for me and it made the focusing so much smoother and faster.

After having it for a couple months now, I couldn't imagine not using it. Focusing has never been so easy with the Mamiya 7. So anybody thinking about getting one for their lenses, I highly recommend them! I also got one for my XF 35mm f/1.4 lens on my Fujifilm XT-1.

If you have any questions about the Lens Taab, feel free to ask me or go check out their web site.
