Freelance Journey: Part Four

Well we have made it to June, congratulations to all the other freelancers out there! Being a freelance photographer, I have noticed that I need to celebrate each month for making it. I sometimes never know where money is going to come from the upcoming month, but somehow by the grace of God it just comes in.

This past month, I have luckily been able to start doing a lot more work for Indie Film Lab as a remote editor. I edit other photographers scans before they are sent to the photographer. It has been a really fun and interesting position. It's always cool getting to see other photographers work, especially when its awesome travel photos from Iceland or when its a famous instagrammer's series of photos.

Unfortunately I haven't actually done too much of my own photography work in May, but I did have a few opportunities open up and one possible opportunity I am really praying for and hope works out.

I am sure most of you have heard by now that I won the Project Colombia Scholarship with Momenta Workshops. So this coming October I will be visiting Medellin, Colombia for a couple weeks, learning from some of the best documentary photographers in the world while also creating photographs for a deserving non-profit in Medellin. Fundraising is still going and if you'd like to be apart of it, you can visit this page here and read more about this opportunity. Each donation will receive a print when I return and if you'r in the Charlotte, NC area I am having donation only portrait sessions, you can send me a message here if you're interested in booking!

This upcoming month should be a good one. Me and Brittany's 4 year wedding anniversary is tomorrow! I cannot even believe, feels just like yesterday we were just starting to date. In a couple weeks we will celebrate with a quick trip to Raleigh, NC for a concert. I am also working on possibly going into another area of photography that has recently interested me, more details to come on that in a few weeks.

Also, I just sent off 20 rolls of film to the lab last week and should be getting scans back within the next week or so. Be prepared for many more posts to come filled with medium format film goodness, captured through my trusty Mamiya 7.

Until next time.

steven.
