UltraSignup

Overview

I discovered the website UltraSignup a few years ago when I started trail running and wanted to search for races. I quickly was hooked on the concept of searching for fun and interesting events, scrolling through the home page filled with events near me sorted out by the closest date. I finally found the race I wanted to sign up for, a trail 50k ultra-marathon.

I then created an account and signed up — and continued my search for more. However the designer in me started noticing issues while trying to search, look at event details and eventually looking at my race results. I knew then I wanted to explore the idea of redesigning their experience and creating an accompanying mobile app. I felt like this was a huge miss — have an easy to use app to scroll through upcoming races, with an intuitive filter process, maybe eventually including a more racing social platform.

This side project eventually gained the attention of UltraSignup, where I then got to meet with the team and discuss future iterations and ideas. I went on to help them come up with some app concepts for a round of funding, in which they received.
